Looking to history to create the perfect kitchen

Recreating the past has always been a big theme for people seeking to create the right atmosphere for their homes.

With the ‘Rustic’ look becoming increasingly more fashionable, so is the need for skilled craftsman and that is where our team at Oak Free Standing Kitchens come into their own.

Because we employ a small artisan workforce, rely on local craftsmen and make our own tables, furniture and kitchens, we can guarantee quality and rely on locally-produced materials.

It’s the individual touch that makes all the difference.

Buying the kitchen you really, really want

In an age of mass-produced furniture, more and more people are turning to the real thing, which is why Oak Free Standing Kitchens is proving so popular.

Our tailor-made oak kitchens offer great value and can be purchased for similar prices to the ‘chipboard’ offerings that seem to be everywhere in the market and yet have none of the charm of something that is individually crafted.

We have never really understood why people buy a chipboard or mdf kitchen when they can buy something from us that is crafted to their individual taste and can be designed around their needs.

You can buy as little or as much kitchen as you need, just adding units or matching Dressers as the need arises.

Why it makes sense to opt for quality

Traditional is in at the moment and Oak Freestanding Kitchens is feeling the benefit.

We have never understood why people buy ‘chipboard’ offerings or MDF kitchens when for pretty much the same price you can purchase one of our solid oak kitchens.

They are good value for money, too. They can stand being immersed in water and can be refinished or painted to create a new look, meaning you’ll only need to buy your kitchen once.

You can buy as little or as much kitchen as you need, just adding units or matching Dressers as the need arises.

We think that treating kitchen units as furniture is far more logical and with no construction necessary, once your room is decorated you can be finished and cooking within an hour of our delivery.

Benefiting from the popularity of local products

Brexit may have caused a lot of uncertainty in the business community but Oak Free Standing Kitchens is feeling the benefit of a switch to home-grown products.

As the ‘Rustic’ look is becoming increasingly more fashionable, we need to import less from abroad and through sourcing locally can keep our prices low compared to competitors who import more and are suffering from the unfavourable exchange rates.

And because we employ a small artisanal workforce, rely on local craftsmen and make our own tables, furniture and kitchens, we can guarantee quality.

Brexit vote helps us create jobs

Simply Dutch and Oak Freestanding Kitchens are benefiting from the after-effects of last year’s Brexit vote.

With imports now more expensive because of the dollar rate, we are sourcing much of our furniture locally with the biggest volume range being made in Thirsk and kitchen units in-house.

The move has been good for the local economy and has allowed us to create employment and we have taken on a full time joiner and a painter.
